Discuss, consider and take appropriate action on an Agreement to participate in the State DNA Rapid DNA Program and the National DNA Index System and authorize the Williamson County Sheriff to execute the Agreement.

Williamson County, along with Montgomery County, has been selected to participate in a Rapid DNA pilot program. This program was authorized by Senate Bill 1723 with an expected start date of September 1, 2026. This will be a collaboration between Williamson County and the Texas Department of Public Safety at no cost to Williamson County. The program is intended to provide DNA results within two hours and is aimed at identifying suspects and matching them to cold cases. The pilot program is currently set to run until September 2028. The equipment and all training is provided by DPS at no cost to Williamson County.
