Discuss, consider and take appropriate action to amend Section III, Supplemental Pay, in the Budget Order to temporarily transfer (8) unused Corrections FTO stipends to the Sheriff's Office, increasing the total to (27) positions for a period of four months.

We are actively training multiple new patrol deputies through the Field Training Officer (FTO) program and do not have enough FTO stipend positions available due to vacations, training assignments and normal staffing shortages creating significant scheduling challenges and resulting in unnecessary downtime for trainees. At this time, the Jail Division currently has eight allocated FTO stipend positions that are not being utilized due to current staffing levels. We would like to request approval to temporarily reallocate up to 8 of those unused jail FTO stipends to Patrol for approximately four months. These stipends would be assigned to FTO certified Patrol deputies who are capable of assisting with training responsibilities during this temporary staffing shortage, even though they are not currently designated as full-time FTOs. This temporary reassignment would allow the Sheriff's Office to continue training new deputies efficiently while minimizing trainee downtown and maintaining operational effectiveness. Once the current group of trainees completes the FTO program, the stipends will be removed from Patrol and returned to the Jail Division.
