Reason for Recommended Action/Background
As part of the 2022-23 Adopted Budget approved by the Board of Supervisors on September 27, 2022, included was establishing a Community Benefit Fund in the amount of $75,000 ($15,000 per Supervisorial District). This concept was discussed at the May 23, 2022, Board Governance meeting and subsequently further refined with the Budget Ad-Hoc Subcommittee and will provide Board members with a small budget for incidental costs related to constituent engagement, community outreach and district operations.
This Board item brings back a policy for the use of those funds (attached) and specifies their use. The County Administrator's Office and Department of Financial Services are jointly preparing procedures and will provide training and support, as needed, to facilitate the use of funds in accordance with the policy and applicable laws and regulations.

The Department of Financial Services collaborated with the County Administrator's Office, County Counsel, and the Chair on the Community Benefit Fund policy. The concept was included as part of the Board of Supervisors adopted budget on September 27, 2022.
