Receive an update on measles in Yolo County, to include data on recent cases, contacts, and wastewater monitoring, along with prevention measures.

The United States is experiencing its largest outbreak of measles since 1992, including a large number of cases in South Carolina. In the first 3 months of 2026, California has already had as many measles cases as in all of 2025. A cluster of at least 7 cases (as of 3/16) has occurred in the greater Sacramento region in early 2026, with numerous Yolo County residents exposed to the highly contagious and potentially deadly virus. Vaccination provides safe and long-lasting protection against measles. Childhood vaccination rates among Yolo County residents are high, but pockets of unvaccinated individuals exist and create an opportunity for a measles outbreak to occur in the county. Public Health efforts to prevent the spread of measles include public outreach to raise awareness of measles activity, communication with partners to support preparedness, contact investigation, measles testing, and connecting cases and contacts to health care.
