Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) provided Yolo County grant funds for the Local Oral Health Program. These funds have allowed Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) to expand program activities related to oral health in the communities. These activities have included education, oral health disease prevention, facilitating community-clinical linkages, establishing oral health policies, and surveillance.

The strategic goals for this program are to raise community awareness about oral health, increase screening and prevention services for children, facilitate local policies to promote oral health, and promote expanded dental access for low-income children/adults.
The purpose of this amendment is to reallocate a portion of funding from the previously awarded grant to allow HHSA to continue school-based/school-linked activities that HHSA was unable to complete due to school closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
