Reason for Recommended Action/Background
Yolo County received a FY 22-23 state budget appropriations through the State Budget Act (AB 179 of 2023) for several community projects to be administered by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The amount of the appropriations is $5,000,000 to benefit the Knight's Landing Park, Vic Fazio Wildlife Area, Crisis Nursery expansion and the Underserved Farmer's Cooperative. The attached resolution (Att. A.) will authorize the County to accept this appropriation and move forward with the contracting process to receive these funds. Funds will be distributed in accordance with direction from California State Senator Dodd and California Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry.
A future item will be brought to the Board of Supervisors to approve the State contract and the resulting contracts with the non-profit entities associated with these projects.

The General Services Department coordinated this item with the County Administrator's Office and the California Department of Parks and Recreation. This state budget appropriations would not be possible without the efforts of California State Senator Dodd and California Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry.

The County will receive funding from the state for these community projects. No County funds are involved. Staff will incorporate the unanticipated revenue and associated expenses in the FY23-24 budget process.
