Reason for Recommended Action/Background
The General Services Department is requesting an amendment to the 2022-23 authorized equipment list to reflect revised priorities and pricing increases relate to Parks and Facilities equipment purchases. This amendment is to add the parks generator and parks vehicle and to reallocate the authorized amounts for the facilities items on the list.
The Department projected a savings in the Parks Division salary and benefits in mid-year and third quarter monitor. With these savings, the Department requests to purchase a generator for the Cache Creek Campground and parks vehicle. The generator is used to power the well and other campground infrastructure when solar panels are inoperative. The Department also requests to purchase a park vehicle. This vehicle is needed due to the increase mowing requirements caused by the past year’s torrential rain. Efficient and timely mowing is necessary in keeping the vegetation down, limits the chance of wildfires and is paramount as a fire abatement.
The Department is requesting to reallocate the authorized amount for two facilities items, a man gate and a golf cart, both of which will be at the justice campus. The golf cart is expected to be more than originally budgeted and can be offset by savings in man gate. These two items will improve safety of facilities workers at the justice campus.
