Reason for Recommended Action/Background
As directed by the Board of Supervisors on July 25, 2023, this item proposes creation of an ad hoc subcommittee dedicated to the needs of the aging population in Yolo County. A proposed scope for the subcommittee is attached to this item. It proposes that the subcommittee collaborate with staff and ensure Board opportunities for participation and guidance on:
- A general assessment of all significant countywide programs (public and private sector) addressing aging and the needs of older adults;
- A framework for potential additional actions; and
- Board direction on actions included in the framework
The continuing need for the subcommittee can be reviewed at any time, but the scope proposes a possible sunset after the Board provides direction on a framework for additional actions or by the end of 2024, whichever comes first.
Chair Villegas has expressed a desire to serve on this subcommittee. Staff recommend that the Board approve the proposed scope and appoint two Board members to the subcommittee.
