Subject

Adopt resolution granting the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney authority to accept, on behalf of Yolo County, $300,000 in grant funds from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services for the Specialized Emergency Housing Program. (No general fund impact) (Reisig)

Recommended Action

  1. Adopt resolution granting the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney authority to accept, on behalf of Yolo County, $300,000 in grant funding awarded by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services; and
     
  2. Authorize the District Attorney and/or Chief Deputy District Attorney to execute the grant award agreement including any and all amendments and extensions.

Reason for Recommended Action/Background

The Yolo County District Attorney's Office has been receiving the Specialized Emergency Housing grant since FY2017-18.

Through this grant, we partner with Empower Yolo and Shores of Hope to provide homeless/home insecure crime victims emergency shelter as well as intensive case management services.

These services reduce the chance of re-victimization and help break the homelessness cycle by providing the opportunity to achieve permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Yolo County District Attorney partners with Empower Yolo and Shores of Hope with this grant.

County Counsel has reviewed and signed the board resolution

The Yolo County District Attorney budgeted $300,000 for this grant in FY 2023-24. Funding was approved with the adopted budget by the Yolo County Board of Supervisors on 9/26/23. No county personnel are funded by this grant. All funds are passed through to Empower Yolo and Shore of Hope. This is just the second of a five-year grant cycle.
