Reason for Recommended Action/Background
American Rescue Plan Background
On September 28, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved the initial American Rescue Plan (ARP) Expenditure Plan, which allocated $42,829,540 in available federal funding. Most of the allocations were to specific projects, Priority Categories, or Strategic Plan Implementation. Since the initial allocation, the Board has periodically reviewed and adjusted the amounts allocated. The reallocation occurred at the Board Meeting on July 25, 2023. At that meeting, the Board considered and approved a slate of Staff project recommendations to fund reallocated monies. Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) requested and was approved for the “Yolo County Food Nonprofit Package” totaling $250,000.
Yolo County organizations were invited to apply for small grants to improve food security, expand nutrition, or enhance the food system countywide. These grants, ranging from $30,000 to $95,000, were selected by the HHSA from a total funding pool of $250,000.
