Reason for Recommended Action/Background

YoloArts is the county’s designated State Local Partner with the California Arts Council and lead agency promoting the arts, culture, and creative economy. YoloArts strives to inspire a flourishing arts and cultural network in Yolo County by serving the community, individual artists, and arts organizations.

The county has financially supported key programming administered by YoloArts in previous years through yearly external funding request to the Board of Supervisors. In 2020, YoloArts was integrated into the annual budgeting process and Agreement No. 7676-2021-YOLO ARTS contracted YoloArts to complete a scope of work including the Art & Ag Project, Juvenile Justice Arts Education, I SEE YOU- Homeless Art Project and Exhibitions at Gallery 625 and The Barn Gallery for $45,000. The agreement has been amended yearly to include an additional allotment of $45,000 for an updated scope of arts and cultural programming.

The contract included for approval covers fiscal year 2024-2025 for a total financial investment of $45,000. A scope of work for each fiscal year is attached. The 2024-2025 arts and cultural programming includes the Art & Ag Project, I SEE YOU- Homeless Art Project, Art & History Field Trips and Exhibitions at Gallery 625 and The Barn Gallery. The agreement is updated from years past to allow the County to have more flexibility regarding the selection of appropriate art at the County Administrative Center, 625 Court Street, Woodland, California, recognizing that this county building is a public service space.
