Reason for Recommended Action/Background

See Attachment A for changes to the Authorized Position and Salary Resolution:

Department of General Services
  • Pool Manager - Extra Help
    • Establishes a new class to be used in the operation of public swimming pools in Yolo County and adds one new extra help position.
  • Lifeguard I/II/II I- Extra Help
    • Establishes a new class series to be used in the operation of public swimming pools in Yolo County and adds twelve new extra help positions.
The cost of directly employing lifeguards will be directly offset by savings in no longer contracting for lifeguards through a third party entity. Lifeguard wages are generally consistent among the public and private sector. Through direct staffing lifeguards, the County improves its ability to manage the pool and control the hours of service in a way that will optimize operational costs over time. No additional funding is required. General Services is committed to a successful season and continued quality recreational services for Capay Valley residents.

See Attachment B for class specification for Pool Manager - Extra Help.

See Attachment C for class specification for Lifeguard I/II/III - Extra Help
