Reason for Recommended Action/Background

Each year, the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) encourages their network of health plans to nominate individuals and community-based organizations for a handful of recognition awards. Partnership HealthPlan nominated Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA) for the 2025 Supporting the Safety Net Award, an award that recognizes outstanding safety net organizations nationwide. Partnership is thrilled to present YCCA with an honorable mention plaque for their exceptional contributions to families across Yolo County. Partnership requested that this national recognition be presented at a Yolo County Board of Supervisors meeting for increased visibility on YCCA’s efforts as a standout, local organization.

What YCCA does
Since its founding in 2002, YCCA has served as a cornerstone of support for children, young parents, immigrant and refugee families, youth facing employment barriers, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Their comprehensive programs address both urgent needs, like food, diapers, emergency housing, and transportation, and long-term goals, including parenting support, legal navigation, workforce development, and housing stability.

Who YCCA serves
YCCA’s reach is broad and inclusive. The organization provides culturally and linguistically competent services in English, Spanish, Dari, Russian, and other languages, ensuring that families feel safe and supported regardless of background or documentation status. In 2024 alone, YCCA reached over 28,000 community members through direct services, outreach campaigns, and community events.

Why YCCA stands out
From emergency support to Home Visiting Programs and Project Homekey housing initiatives, YCCA meets families where they are and supports them every step of the way. Their family-centered, culturally informed approach exemplifies leadership, adaptability, and commitment to strengthening the Yolo County community.

When YCCA’s work matters
In today’s rapidly evolving landscape of immigration, Medi-Cal, and social services, the work of YCCA has never been more vital. Their innovative, holistic approach ensures that families facing complex challenges have access to the resources, guidance, and support they need to thrive. As one statement from our nomination puts it: “By creating pathways to safety, stability, and opportunity, YCCA not only transforms children and families, but also strengthens the broader Yolo County community.” Congratulations to YCCA on this honorable mention! We at Partnership are proud and privileged to collaborate with an innovative and dedicated community partner that has such a big impact in the community they serve.
